Foremost, members of Earth Spirit recognize that all existences are
offspring of one vast evolving Universe. We believe this is a new sacred
story of our times. We are awed by one fruit of Universe's womb, Earth. The works and
perceptions of Thomas Berry and Brian Swimme are seminal to earthspiritinc.
Second, members of Earth Spirit accept that Earth, our particular wellspring, is alive with a unique community of life. Members of Earth Spirit recognize that all beings of Earth have dynamism and the line between life and non life is not sharp. We are humbled at the number of gifts humans have inherited from our nonhuman ancestors. Each unique, we are all connected and as one, are creating the present Earth story. We agree that becoming human requires openness to Earth's healing, wisdom and mystery without and within ourselves. Members of Earth Spirit also acknowledge that Earth provides the conditions essential to life's evolution. We acknowledge human patterns are thwarting Earth's balance and flow. In response, we strive to rethink and change our lifestyles from dominance over Earth's resources to partnerships of beings working together for the celebration of each and all. Earth Spirit members strive to observe and cooperate with Earth's ways of respect and interrelationships toward enhancing the vitality, diversity, natural systems and beauty of the whole Earth community and beyond.
Earthspirit, Inc. is a non-profit tax-exempt community-based organization dedicated to increasing awareness of Earth-healing ways of being and living. Since 1998, the members have met annually near Sault Ste. Marie (our headquarters) for two-day or three-day retreats, in northern Michigan, experiencing, reflecting--- simmering in Earth orientations. In 2004, we started including guests in the activities. In 2006, we started the process of developing a website. Two of Earth Spirit's members, Pam Fording and Trudy Baltas have passed from this Earth. We honor them as guardians of Earth Spirit. |
